Press coverage of PESP’s Multi-Family Housing Tracker
May 12, 2025
Last month, the Private Equity Stakeholder Project released the Private Equity Multi-Family Housing Tracker, an analysis of the extent of the industry’s ownership of apartment housing in the United States. The tracker revealed that private equity owns at least 10% of all apartment units in the U.S., with that figure reaching even higher in some states and metro areas. In the Raleigh-Cary metro area, for example, private equity owns nearly 35% of all apartment housing.
The release of the Private Equity Multi-Family Housing Tracker generated significant media coverage in a number of outlets. See below for stories from Axios, Tampa Bay Times, and the Raleigh News & Observer.
